“Support The Troops” Showing Its Limits
From Michelle Malkin and others:
Dept of Transportation Federal Transit Administration sends:
Recently, there have been local incidents in which military personnel have been verbally assaulted while commuting on the Metro. Uniformed members have been approached by individuals expressing themselves as anti-government, shouting anti-war sentiments, and using racial slurs against minorities.
In one instance, a member was followed onto the platform by an individual who continued to berate her as she exited the metro station. Thus far, these incidents have occurred in the vicinity of the Reagan National Airport and Eisenhower Ave metro stations on the yellow line, however, military members should be vigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times while in mass transit.
Should you be approached by any individuals expressing anti-government/anti-war sentiments, or any other types of direct verbal assault, immediately notify your local police jurisdiction. If riding metro, exit the train at the next stop, distance yourself from the individual, and notify the Metro Transit Police Department.
And according to this story yesterday, America may not be the only place with this problem:
Discriminating against British servicemen and women wearing their uniform in public will become a criminal offence under Government proposals outlined yesterday.
Courts will impose tougher punishments on anyone who assaults or threatens a serviceman wearing the Queen’s uniform – targeting them will be an “aggravating factor” in sentencing.
I certainly don’t think making a federal law is necessary, or even wise. Law enforcement and the courts have more pressing problems to address. It does demonstrate a predictable superficiality to the anti-war movement’s talk about supporting the warrior while opposing war.
My recommendations are to, 1) encourage more servicemen to wear their uniforms, and 2) tell them to have their cell phone cameras at the ready.

What kind of individuals are we talking about here? Crazies/bums/beggars riding the subway and indiscriminately harassing people is commonplace and almost expected. Punk teenagers who think they’re Raging Against The Machine for their friends by saying obnoxious stuff to people in uniform is also minor. However, young adults or adults of sound mind doing this is inexcusable and those people are clearly 1) very deluded and 2) need to get a life.

This is a lie. It’s just like the supposed ‘baby-killer’ comments made to returning Vietnam vets – not true. Republicans make up this stuff to get your blood boiling and so you will ignore the truth.
It never happened and yet they jerk your chain again.

Part of the U.S. story certainly appears to have been embellished, though who’s responsible isn’t clear. Get the breakdown between true and untrue at Pajamas Media.
Oh, and there’s been no dispute of the report from the UK, though there are no details offered in the story as to specific motivation for the law.
