Religious Extremists, Between the Sheets
Lex picked up on a column by Sam Harris that demonstrates that old adage about politics and bedfellows well. Commenting on the challenge the world faces in differentiating between “good Muslims” and “bad Muslims”, Harris correctly notes,
The connection between the doctrine of Islam and Islamist violence is simply not open to dispute. It’s not that critics of religion like myself speculate that such a connection might exist: the point is that Islamists themselves acknowledge and demonstrate this connection at every opportunity and to deny it is to retreat within a fantasy world of political correctness and religious apology.
Then, Lex notes a deliciously ironic reaction from the unthinking masses that normally populate the HuffPo:
Okay, after looking at Sam Harris’s bio and reading a few of his articles, I am willing to declare him a Neo Conservative Shill.
No doubt the commenter will get a stern talking to by his fellow idealogues, but the events highlight one of the problems inherent in extremism, in that it doesn’t matter which extreme position you choose, you’re always going to end up sharing opinions with your own, most-hated extremists.
To sharpen the point, Mr. Harris has no particular hatred for Muslims of any kind. Muslims just took this blow because they were the closest target. Mr. Harris and his fellow secular extremists share a hatred for anyone that believes in the divine. It doesn’t matter to the militant atheist whether you’re a jihidi wearing a bomb vest or an Amish pacifist driving a buggy, you’re bad, merely because you believe.
So while Harris, Robertson, Hagee and their ilk snuggle between the sheets, I wonder, who’s hogging the covers?

Left: You have no moral authority.
What did the Left do? They threw out numbers of the suffering people while on TV, just as they do now with our Soldiers, but that is as far as they are willing to go. They have not gone to Sudan or any other African country. Oh, they have those green wrist bands which everyone is supposed to wear…
PS. lol.
