Hamad International Airport Become Qatar Airways New Home Base

Hamad International Airport receives its first airline customer to be their home base on May 2014.

Qatar Airways announces that they will move from Doha International Airport to the new home at new Hamad International Airport on 27 May 2014. Hamad International Airport is about 4 kilometers from existing Doha International Airport.

Hamad International Airport has hundreds of check-in counters. In total they have 138 check-in counters, to be details, 108 counters are for economy class of Qatar Airways and other airline as well, separated 16 counters check-in for business class passengers and about 14 seated check-in for first class passenger of Qatar Airways.

Spokesman of airport says that Hamad International Airport able to serve about 50 million passenger per year. But in first phase of opening session, only two-third of actual capacity can be count.

Hamad International Airport will operate up to 65 gates and 41 among them are the widebody aircraft gates. Also six gates will be operate only for super jumbo jet Airbus A380. Qatar Airways is reported has 13 A380 on aircraft's order list. Retail area also well built with hundreds of branded retail outlets and about 30 cafes and restaurants.

Currently ten airlines have confirmed to fly to Hamad International Airport, Nepal Airlines, Syrian Airlines, Pakistan Airlines, Yemenia, Air India Express, Iran Air, FlyDubai, Biman Bangladesh, Air Arabia and Pegasus Airlines. Hamad International Airport will be huge hub and modern airport in Middle-East beside Dubai.
