Air New Zealand To Buy Next Generation Airbus A320NEO Family

Seems to be hectic week for Air New Zealand, after the first flight and delivery of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, couple days ago.

Air New Zealand is reported has signed a deal for 13 Airbus A320NEO (new engine option) with the aircraft maker. Currently Air New Zealand operates about 22 Airbus A320 for domestic flight.

The power plant for new Airbus A320NEO is not decided yet since existing A320 fleet are powered by International Aero Engines IAE V2500S. In the other side, Airbus A320NEO family will powered by Pratt & Whitney PW 1100G or CFM International Leap 1A. The decision is expected will final in last quarter this year.

Airbus A320NEO family will be distinguished into 10 A320NEO and three A321NEO. Total sales is worth to US$ 1.6 billion, the first stage of delivery will start in 2015 and expected all orders will be received by 2019.

This will be the master plan for New Zealand carrier expanding its market and refreshing the old fleet. Nowadays, Air New Zealand fly Pacific Islands and trans-Tasman route with its Airbus A320.
